Magellan, Medicaid HMO in Florida. If you have been to a Central FL hospital recently, you have likely seen notices stating that they no longer serve Magellan HMO recipients. This is due to gross negligence on the part of Magellan in compensating hospitals and other health care providers for services rendered to some of the neediest clients.
I work for a mental health agency which provides in-home mental health services to Medicaid recipients throughout Central Florida. Gross negligence on the part of Magellan has driven our agency to near bankruptcy.
We have pages and pages detailing correspondence with them in attempts to be paid. To no avail. We now have the attention of the Attorney Generals office for Florida and that is only the beginning.
Mentally ill clients (suicidal, schizophrenia, depression, homeless) are no longer able to see their mental health counselors. Our fight has just begun.
